Chances of repigmentation with our treatment.
First of all it must be mentioned, that for medical practitioners, practicing in Germany, it is not allowed to mention their personal success rate of treatment in a public medium like the Internet. This is because individual advertisement for medical treatments, especially including success rates of treatments performed by a single doctor are not allowed in public.
Any statement about success rates of a specific treatment performed by an individual doctor is only allowed during an individual consultation with the practitioner.
On the other hand it is conform with these restrictions, to publish general information about a specific health condition and also to mention success rates published in studies.
Success rates of single studies regarding single supplements which we are using in combination with each other are the followings:
Vitamin B12 plus folic acid combined with UVB-irradiation or sun exposure are
35 to 40%*
L-phenylalanine combined with UVA-irradiation: in the average of all available studies: 60 to 65%.*
*(please refer to “studien” at “Therapie” in the German part of this website; studies mixed German and English.)
Gingko Biloba (or antioxidants): success rate about 60%.**
**(please refer to “Gigko Biloba”” at “Anmerkungen” in the German part of this website; German only!).
As we are using a combination of all these single substances, for which individual clinical studies and their success rates exist, the maximum information that we are allowed to give is, that our success rate exceeds the maximum success rate which is proven for any single of these substances. More details about our own clinic’s specific statistics can only be given in a context with an individual consultation of the patient in our clinic.
By evaluating any success rate of any treatment of vitiligo a number of individual circumstances must be taken into consideration:
- how old is the patient
- for how many years does he have his vitiligo condition
- how many percent of his skin is affected with visible vitiligo alterations.
- Which parts of the body are affected (face, body stem, extremities, hands and feet, etc.etc.)
All these different conditions have different success rates.
Young people with a short period of vitiligo condition usually respond faster and more satisfactory with the treatment.
Older people with a long history of vitiligo respond slower and sometimes less satisfactory with the treatment.
Face and neck usually respond fast and satisfactory to the treatment.
Hands and feet are responding only slowly and sometimes only to a certain degree.
The rest of the body will react somewhere in between the fast (face) and the slow (hands feet) reacting areas mentioned.
On the other hand there are sometimes exceptions from this rule: hands sometimes respond faster (and even with complete repigmentation) than the face of a given patient.
Sometimes children with a short history of vitiligo condition may respond slower than older people with a longer history of vitiligo. But these are exceptions from the rule only.
Your own individual chance of satisfactory repigmentation can only be experienced after treatment. Any statistics may fail in your case, or positively or negatively. If your chances in view of what I have said in this text above are small, you may still respond very satisfactory with the treatment. If your chances seem very good in view of the statistics regarding your personal circumstances, you may still experience a failure of the treatment.
Those given statistics may help you in your decision, to try any existing treatment for vitiligo. But only trying any of those treatments will definitely show whether these statistics prove right or wrong for you personally.
